The Brandon Area Darts Association (BADA) is a non-political, non-sectarian, not-for-profit and non sexist organization. It was established for the Brandon area of eastern Hillsborough County, Florida. The main purpose of BADA is to promote the sport of steel darts, and to establish a friendly competitive relationship among the members of the organization, local proprietors and the community.
In the Spring & Summer of 1991 a group of 18 darters played a Monday night in-house league. They outgrew the friendly confines of the Fox & Hounds Irish Pub in the heart of Brandon. So Lee Lash, Larry Irvin & Tony Graf went out into the community and established a relationship with four local proprietors Darby’s Pub, Frankie D’s Sport Pub, Fox & Hounds Irish Pub and Oakfield Lanes. The original 18 darters expanded to 35 members almost overnight.
By 1995 BADA expanded to Monday & Tuesdays nights. Monday was an open division team format, Tuesday was set-up with two divisions. One division for the established darter and a second division for the novice player. During this time and up to 1997 the association expanded to a maximum of 28 teams and 160 members. Since 1998 BADA now only plays on Monday nights with a general membership of 70 to 90 players.
BADA is an active member of the Florida Dart Association (FDA) and the American Dart Organization (ADO). Membership to the BADA also includes membership in the FDA & ADO. With that the members have the opportunity to participate in FDA sanctioned tournaments through out the state of Florida. BADA also participates in the FDA state team competitions by sending a team each year to the regional and the state final events. BADA hosted the 2004 North Florida Regional finals and it's best finish was 5th place in 2005.
